What my mother taught me and what my mother showed me everyday of my childhood, was that maybe she couldn’t control what was happening outside the walls & windows of our home in society, but certainly she could control what happened inside our home. In my mind, it is the most important concept that parents need to master… a concept lost on too many of parents today. Many of the things we preach to our kids also apply to us. Just because Johnny’s parents do it, doesn’t mean you should too. It’s a realization of staying true to yourself, true to your beliefs as a parent, true to your goals for your family and your dreams for your children. It really is your house, so take control of it and set an agenda for success for everyone in “your house”.

Our children must know, regardless of race and ethnicity, that they come from a great heritage, an illustrious history, that must be honored within each generation.
